Cityscape (Forgotten Army)

UKF was invited by BSH this afternoon to visit their product showcase in Cityscape Asia; held at Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre. It’s basically an exhibition for developers, architects and other trades complementing the upper-end real estate. A few of the Asian bigwigs were exhibiting, including those from Dubai. I managed to catch glimpses of some upcoming projects and was especially impressed by one that has three ‘leafy’ skyscrapers lighted up like lanterns.

At BSH’s booth, the latest models from Bosch and Gaggenau were displayed. Denise and William were at hand to introduce us specifically to two new models, the refrigerator cum wine chiller and the aluminium cladded ovens. The refigerator unit is meant to be Sub-Zero’s competition, but once I inspected it and was informed of the price, it made no sense for our clients to have one. At the princely sum of approximately $35,000 and without the stainless steel doors mind you, it’s basically three individual units of integrated refrigerator, freezer and wine chiller. For that amount of money, two Sub-Zeros can be bought.

The aluminium ovens were beautiful and reasonably priced based on its features and quality. The chunky doors feel solid too. However, the stainless steel oven that’s hung near the entrance is another thing altogether. Jeff already has plans to have it displayed in our showroom and I can’t wait to use it for my upcoming projects. Capacity-wise it’s doesn’t have much but its base that slides down automatically at a push of a button is really impressive. It’s not meant for the serious chef but merely a design feature for a kitchen. A definite conversation piece when you have friends over.
