Live Earth Crisis (Earth Crisis)

Live Earth is on today. Labelled the concerts for a climate in crisis and taking place simultaneously in New York, London, Johannesburg, Rio De Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney and Hamburg. And no … I did not wear my green Led Zeppelin T-shirt to work today as support for the event. The way I see it … Live Earth is just another platform for established as well as up and coming artistes to garner even greater attention for themselves under the guise of saving planet Earth. No doubt some are really genuine in their intentions but most of them are just in it for the ride. Remember USA for Africa, Band Aid and Live Aid?

And for the umpteenth time … I do not want to see Bob Geldof singing ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’ ever again on any stage. Fucking ‘one-hit wonder’ old geezer!

Notwithstanding, I will be rushing back home tonight to catch Live Earth, for the sheer chance to watch The Police back together performing and also other cool old farts like Beastie Boys, The Smashing Pumpkins and Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

Check out the artistes performing at Oriental Pearl Tower in China. The only recognisable name is Sarah Brightman. The rest? Anthony Wong, Evonne Hsu, Winnie Hsin, Huang Xiao Ming … what the fuck! Isn’t the last one playing for Houston Rockets? Oh wait … that’s Yao Ming.

Pardon my poor grasp of Chinese names.

  1. Old geezers rule!!! Billy Corgan still looks …. errr …. freakish.

  2. The freaky ones are usually talented … the ugly or brainless ones think they have it. 😉
