UKF’s staff attended a seminar yesterday held at Kitchen Culture’s showroom. The American staff from Sub-Zero and Wolf was there to introduce the brands histories and developments, assisted by Cheryl and Kelvin. We were also briefed on upmarket projects worldwide recently equipped with their range, including Donald Trump’s latest residential project specified with around 1000 units of both brands. It was also interesting to know that the great Frank Lloyd Wright was a catalyst during Sub-Zero’s early years. Form follows function indeed.

In between the sessions, we indulged in the refreshments they had prepared for us and also went through the various Sub-Zero and Wolf models displayed in Kitchen Culture’s showroom, especially Sub-Zero’s latest Pro 48 series which was prominently displayed. That is one grand dame … hand-built in full stainless steel and retailing at a few dollars short of 50K each. The rest of the dealers were shaking their heads and doubt it would be sellable. Then again, if there are people splurging on 400K kitchens, what’s 50K to them?
