Hacked Up For Barbecue (Mortician)

It was Christmas Eve. Nobody was working the next day. A sleepover at Fadelinah’s parents’ apartment was imminent.

But what’s a sleepover without some form of food fest … at least by our standards. The electric grill was put through its pace as we grilled almost everything that can be found in the refrigerator. Out came the chicken wings … one set marinated in honey and lemon and the other in black soya sauce and pepper. That was followed by tiger prawns, squids and fish with Mr Ramli Burger made the in-house grill attendant and assisted by his apprentice. All these taking place in the ‘posh’ setting of a HDB corridor surrounded by neighbours’ bamboo poles and withering plants. And just to add to the ‘glitzy’ atmosphere with it being Christmas Eve and all, beef ribs and stuffed roast turkey were also served.

OK. The grilled food turned out fine. The turkey was one literally. The fact that it came in a box from Canadian Pizza would suffice to inform one of its quality. The beef ribs from the same company didn’t taste any better. Should have ordered much earlier from Delifrance instead.

Is it just me or do turkeys taste really dry? It’s like an old chicken sucked dry of all its internal juice. Needless to say, half of it ended up being modified into sandwich filling. I’m sorry Mr Turkey but you’re tasteless and I don’t want to eat you anymore.

  1. Canadian Pizza, huh? What were the Canadian toppings, just asking being Canadian, eh?

  2. Actually, I have no idea what’s Canadian about it. The pizzas look like any others but taste slightly better, EXCEPT for their Christmas offerings. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  3. mouthwatering!!! but have you tried the barbecue on a slate or any kind of stone?, the japanese has been doing that eversince, and it tastes more natural. hapi new year!

  4. That’s the best method I reckon … barbecue on hot lava stone. No carbon emission, just the taste of the meat. Hmmm … now you’ve got me craving for steak.

Happy New Year to you too! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. i think the turkey done here are not done properly hence the dryness. maybe one day Fad can attempt to bake one herself but not sure whether got HALA fresh one for sale here though ๐Ÿ˜†

if there is, jangan lupa orang disini!

  6. Once bitten twice shy lah.
