Heartbreak Hotel (Elvis Presley)

3 nights in Bali … no … 3 nights in Ho Chi Minh … no … 3 nights in Bangkok … no … 1 night in Kuala Lumpur followed by 2 nights in Langkawi then return for another night in Kuala Lumpur. The first 3 destinations were what the travel agency picked at the bottom of the barrel for us and arriving at ridiculous hours. The last one seemed workable … in an Amazing Race kind of way. I almost confirmed it but was thwarted at the last minute when I couldn’t find rooms available at any of the beach front hotels in Langkawi. All calls and e-mails sent to the front desks were replied with somewhat the following:

“Thank you for your interest in our hotel. We regret to inform you that there are no rooms available at the requested dates.”

The only favourable response I got was from Sheraton Langkawi Beach Resort, stating that they still have a suite available for 4 adults. The attached pictures showed a luxuriously furnished suite facing the beach. Wonderful I thought until I saw the rate; RM2925 per night. I think I’ll pass.

I guess when every single effort to travel further seems to meet with an obstacle, perhaps the higher power is trying to tell us something. Better not tempt fate. And after knowing that Fadelinah will be having a week break in end-February, that would be a better time for us to visit an island resort. Maybe even that particular nearby private island that not many people seem to know about, but affording the same ambience as that which you can get in Malaysian and Indonesian islands. And I’m not talking about Bintan or Batam.

Anyway, after a few quick telephone conversations with Jarrod yesterday, we finally confirmed our travel arrangements. It’ll be just in Malacca, a 3 nights stay at Renaissance Melaka Hotel at their Executive Club rooms. A good base for our explorations of nearby attractions and food hunt.

  1. ahhhhh! kan akak dah cakap pergi melaka.take many2 food pics ok? next time boleh pegi holiday jauh2. turkey sounds very good, no?

  2. Of course! You should know how much I love taking pictures of food … and not devils with freaky faces.

You do your part by taking pictures of all those glorious Thai food.

  3. Aloha… Melaka!! πŸ˜€ Wished you would go to Langkawi though – the good memories still linger. But, there will be another time, right πŸ™‚ Oh, when you said ‘Amazing Race’, you hit it right on the nail!!! Macam nak rak drive up to Kedah in one day! *hahaa* Kesian driver… If you ever make it to Langkawi, have to stay more than 2 nites lah. I felt that even 4 nites was not enuf – we all wake up late, so by the time we get out, all the attractions were closing. πŸ˜›

Hope u have fun shopping at Melaka. Got lots of designer handbags there cheap cheap… ooops, habis… *heheee*

  4. Yeah, it’s too bad since Langkawi’s beaches are beautiful at this time. That Amazing Race involves flying there lah. Drive up to Kedah? Cam gitu bukan 2 nights stay in Langkawi tapi half-day stay je.

True … 4 nights not enough. Need at least a week to really enjoy the stay, especially waking up and diving into the ocean in the morning. Syiokkk!!!
